Sully is three weeks old! I should probably have a lot more to say about this but I'm feeling like just taking these pictures and posting them is a big accomplishment itself. Mostly, the highlight (or rather, low point) of week three has been dealing with Sullivan's first cold. I don't know how old Cece was when she got sick for the first time but I'm sure she had several months of life experience under her belt before her immune system was compromised. I remember asking visitors if they had gotten a flu shot and stockpiling hand sanitizer when Cece was a newborn. That's the difference between your first and second go at parenthood, I guess. That and its practically impossible to keep a germy two year old from being all up in his biz every waking hour of the day.
The last few nights have been tough because Sullivan has been so congested that he had a hard time breathing, eating or sleeping. Last night was moderately better so I'm hopeful he's on the up and up. Even with a cold this kid has to be considered a good sleeper. and when he's not sleeping, he's a pretty mellow fellow. The only time he seems to fuss is in the evenings between 8-10ish. Typically, it seems to be because he's a bit gassy at this hour. He settles down after a feeding and poo. If all else fails a good tight swaddle tends to do the trick.
A few other notes about week three - he loves having his hand up by his face, just like Cece did. He has long, long fingers and toes, just like Cece does. His eyes are blue, just like Cece's. He loves to be held and snuggled. He holds his head up already. Noise doesn't phase him. Summit barking, Cece's non-stop chatterbox going off in his ear - it doesn't bother him one bit. Thank goodness! He prefers mommy snuggles to daddy snuggles at this point. It clearly bothers James but I keep telling him its only because I'm quite a bit squishier than he is. Love this little guy, he's a keeper!
Sullivan on the left, three weeks old. Cecelia on the right, circa two weeks. And Cece's three week update, as a comparison.
