Cecelia at Eight Months

Our Cecelia is eight months old! Say, what?! And look at her! She's getting so big. Doing big kid things like getting around on her own, communicating in English (and lots and lots of Cece babble!), eating grown up food, and entertaining herself long enough for us to actually get something done! Huzzah!
Girlfriend is a riot. She talks and talks and talks these days. She finally said, "momma". And now it's her favorite. "Momma, momma, momma" when she's happy. "Momma, momma, momma" when she's bored. "Momma! Momma! Moooooomma!!" when she's pissed. And I just laugh. Because it's funny. But mostly I'm just happy we can finally have words. Love her. She also has been saying "Nana" (my mom) quite a bit. Cute.

Like most families, we've been busy having summer fun. Lots of picnics, play dates and lazy days by the water. We went to the zoo. Been hiking a few times. Been on the boat and the canoe. Enjoyed the beach. Summer is the best, isn't it?
Little C is growing like a weed. She's almost as big as her Mr. and Mrs. Fox! It's probably because she loves to eat. From the beginning, Cece poo-pooed traditional "baby food" - purees and tasteless mush. She loves finger food and hasn't had much trouble gumming the solid food we give her (no teeth yet!) so she pretty much eats what we eat. Her favorite by far is spaghetti. She practically jumps out of her chair to get it and moans with pleasure while it's in her mouth. And forget it if you don't shovel it in fast enough, she loses it. So funny. I'm still nursing 6 times a day and she still digs that too, but it's becoming more challenging to keep her focused and most of the time I'm fighting to keep her from wiggling right out of my arms. She's a handful.

Sleep is still just "eh" but she's pretty predictable so whatever, I'm over it. I've come to terms with the fact that my child is just more interested in what's going on in the world than catching up on her ZZZ's. Wonder where she gets that from?

Cece is into everything these days. She loves bags and boxes. Taking things out of containers and putting them back in (but mostly taking them out and leaving them out - I can tell you she got that trait from her daddy!). Baby proofing is in full effect. Poor Summit keeps getting locked downstairs below the baby gate. And our lovely custom built in wine rack? Long gone. It will probably be a bookshelf for the next 6+ years. Super.

That's about it for now. Follow us on Instagram for a peek at Cece's daily hijinx and check out her monthly progress on the updates page. We've come a long way in eight months!
