Spotted Cece

I'm a few days late on Cece's 11 month update but that's because we've been dealing with this. Yeesh. Poor Cece girl either had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic she was on (for an ear infection) or she caught a viral infection from her cousin Zach who broke out in a rash too. To complicate matters, he was on the same antibiotic at the time so it's impossible to know if they just happen to both be allergic to the medicine or they both had the same virus. Either way, we had one spotted, grumpy Cece on our hands. Not to worry, she's all better now. That update is coming soon!

Happy Halloween!

We spotted some wildlife in our backyard today- as in Cece and her cousin Zach enjoying the great outdoors in their Nana-made Halloween costumes. Thanks, Nana!

Cecelia at Ten Months

Cecelia is 10 months old. Double digits! She’ll be turning 21 before we know it at this rate. And the way my blogging has been trending, I might post about it by the time she turns 30. Seriously. It’s hard to find the time. But oh how I love looking back on life. Must. Stay. On. It. But, I digress.

Cece is doing great. She’s all over the place and into everything, as evidenced by the photos below. She’s standing on her own, without support for short bursts of time. Climbing on everything. She’s mastered the stairs and knows how to go up AND down them. I’m so impressed with her ability to understand “turn around” when going down stairs or climbing off furniture. I give my sister-in-law (Cece’s daytime care taker) all the credit for teaching her that. It’s amazing how much she understands. She’s mastering speech better and better each day. She loves giving high fives and her favorite sign is “milk” which she uses for pretty much everything (hello, goodbye, daddy, milk, all done). We probably could have spent more time on those, haha.

She is a happy kid. Does so well in crowds and with activity. Loves other kids, especially her cousins. Loves Summit and her tail and toenails. Loves to eat. Is also still nursing 4-5 times a day but is difficult to contain (read climbs, pinches, wiggles while feeding. Awesome).

Cece’s getting teeth! Her two lower teeth are coming in, though they haven’t poked through the surface yet. Hoping that happens soon because it has interrupted our perfect sleep cycle. Girlfriend can be a disaster at night, for example, she was up four times last night. We have tried a bunch of natural remedies (yes, that is a teething necklace you see) but nothing except a little Tylenol has helped much. Teeth are so fun. So fun.

Cecelia loves music and “dances” when she hears a fun song or sees someone else dancing. So cute. Must get that on video. She also loves pounding on her toy drum and shaking anything that rattles. She also goes to town on her cousin’s recorder. Maybe we have a musician on our hands?

I left Cece twice this month for work related overnights. Once with Dad and once with Nana because both James and I had to travel. She did great. Pretty sure it was harder on me than her. Phew. Glad we got that out of the way but it still makes my heart hurt when I leave her for very long. Love this kid. Two more months and she’ll be one! Ahhh!

Cecelia at Nine Months

Nine months ago Cece changed our world. She has spunk, this kid.
I don't really know what to say about her except that she's pretty awesome and we love her so, so much. Life is pretty fun with her these days because she's on a predictable schedule and she is easy to please. No new major milestones this month but she continues to hone her verbal and motor skills. She's all over the place and into everything. Almost standing entirely on her own. It won't be much longer before she's walking. She talks all the time. Waves hello and goodbye. Loves her blocks, legos and sound puzzles. Eats everything we give her. Loves spaghetti, avocados and crackers the best. LOVES to feed Summit. Understands English. Sleeps (11-12 hours!) through the night. Loves bath time. Loves swings. Weighs 18.5 pounds. Is no wallflower. Still has no teeth. Loves to play with other kids and is already holding her own on the playground.

Love this kid. What else is there to say?

Family Camping

James and I used to do this kind of camping. Safe to say those days may be behind us, at least for awhile. Instead, we took Cece on her first Chadwick family camping trip. We packed up the tents and the pop-up and headed to the Rhode Island shore. We spent the day at the beach and followed it up with a good old New England clam bake and s'mores around the fire. It all went smoothly until it was time to go to bed. Cece has been sleeping 12 glorious hours through the night at home, but apparently that doesn't translate to sleeping through the night in a tent with mom and dad. So, that was a bit of a challenge but we made it through the night and were still full of smiles the next morning. Maybe next time we'll bring Summit and she and Cece can share their own tent.

I think it's safe to say corn on the cob is Cece's new favorite food. She could have chewed on that cob for hours if we let her. Cousin Zach too.
