Sullivan at Six Months

Ah, I'm so mad at myself, I missed Sully's five month update. I didn't take pictures so I can't even fake it. I feel bad for him and kind of lame because up to this point, I managed to do monthly updates for both kids (for their first year). Oh, well. Life has been busy and the blog has suffered lately. And so it goes.

Alas, there is no stopping time. Here is Sullivan at six months old. He is a bubbly, cheerful little lad. His hair is RED! And I don't just mean tinged a little red like Cece's. It's really red. Even his eyebrows are red. It will be interesting to see if he turns more blonde this summer or if it will stick.

Sully is still pretty much a dream baby, with one exception. He doesn't dream that much. As in, he still kind of sucks at sleeping. I looked back at Cece's six month update and it turns out she sucked too. She had only slept through the night twice at this stage (Sullivan hasn't done that yet!) and wouldn't nap for me either. Sully is taking after his big sister for sure. Napping more than 20 minutes (for me anyway) unless we are in the car isn't his strong suit. He would also prefer to sleep in bed with us than be along in his crib. On most nights, I'm so tired that he gets away with it and I pretty much don't care that he's being "spoiled" by mommy cuddles instead of being forced to cry it out. He's my last babe and I'm going with it. those baby snuggles aren't going to last forever!

Sullivan is a big boy! We just had his six month appointment and he officially weighs 18 pounds! He's six months old but wearing 12 month clothing. He is built like his sister too, lots of chubby rolls to squeeze. He doesn't spit up as much as Cece did but he does drool a ton. I wonder if he'll get teeth before she did (it took almost a year!). He has started to really babble. He can go and go and go. He says "Dada" all the time, just like Cece did, but I think it's just a coincidence that it sounds like Dada. I guess we can count it as a first word, but I don't think he's really put Dada and James together just yet.

We started giving Sully mushy food, mostly baby oatmeal, about a month ago. He loves it. It's so funny to see him grunt and lunge toward the spoon when he's hungry. We have also tried avocado, squash and green beans. Some days he goes for the avocado but on the whole, he's still not a fan of veggies.

Sully's a good sport and an easy going kid. He's really durable. He has to be. His sister loves him and loves to smother him. I've found her literally sitting on him when I turned my back for a minute. When I rescued him he was laughing. He also fell of the couch the other day. Found him on the floor giggling. Phew! He can also sit on his own for minutes at a time now. Eventually he'll fall backward but it's been a nice change of elevation for him and I think he likes his new independence. He's also rolling quite a bit these days too. It's definitely time to pack up the baby swing and some of the newborn toys. Boy, those don't last long do they!?

Sully, you are a treat. Love you little man.
