Throwback Thursday

I couldn't find a little James picture from an Easter past, but here's one of me. Check out that dress! I was so proud of that tape player and my Raffi songs.

Throwback Thursday

Apparently it's also siblings day. So here you go, little Curt and Cary, circa 1984.

Cecelia at Fifteen Months

It's been awhile since I did a Cece update. Even though she's almost 16 months now, these pictures were taken a few weeks ago and of course, I'm just getting around to sharing them now. Tis life.

Cecelia at 15 months is something else. She is a bundle of energy. She runs. She talks. She makes sure we know exactly what she wants. Determined, this child. She has no fear. None. Loves heights. Loves things that move. Especially school buses. Birds. We could watch the birds outside our window for hours. Books are everything right now. She likes to binge on certain books, wanting to read the same ones over and over and over again. Right now it's The Going to Bed Book, Doggies, Goodnight Moon, Moo Baa La La La. She is certifiably obsessed with this coffee table picture book we have of dogs. We have to read through all 200 pages of it every night. At least twice. She loves, I mean loves dogs. She squeals with joy if she sees one on the street, on TV or even pictures of dogs. Pure joy.

Cece eats well but is starting to get a bit more picky. Girl loves pasta, peas, spinach. Those are our go-to's. Sometimes we probably go-to them a bit too often. Hates meat. Hates milk. I've tried cow's, almond, soy, coconut and hemp milk and she rejects them all. She eats yogurt and lots of cheese though so we'll take it. We stopped nursing all together two weeks ago. At first I thought this kid would be attached to me until she was 10. She put up such a fuss about not getting the boob. But slowly we were able to distract her enough to wean her down to one feeding before bed. And then, finally, nothing. Just mommy and daddy cuddles. Phew!

Cece has several words that are on repeat but she still does a fair amount of baby babbling. It's amazing how well she communicates though. She understands almost everything we say and very competently shakes her head yes or no in response to questions. Of course she grunts and reaches for things too and there have been occasional temper tantrums when she doesn't get what she wants. She can be a little spit fire at times.

Sleep has never been Cece's best trick. She sleeps through the night now most of the time, but at least once or twice a week I'm up with her at least once. She settles down fast enough, but it still gets me out of bed. The biggest change is that she's now sleeping downstairs (remember our house is reversed with a main ground level and then a second level below) in her "big girl room". The transition went pretty smoothly and it's definitely quieter for her down there. It's helped a ton with nap time and means we don't have to tip toe around as much upstairs when she's down for the night.

As far as I can tell, Cece has 6 teeth. Four on top and two on the bottom. She doesn't let me put my finger in her mouth often (and when I do, she bites hard!) so I can't really verify that but I peek in there sometimes when she's screaming at the top of her lungs. She weighs 20.5 pounds and won't be breaking any height or weight records any time soon. Chances are she's going to be a peanut just like mom and dad. Still, girl has a booty on her and thunder thighs to boot. Like momma, like daughter. Girl also loves to be naked. And if she's not naked, she's trying to dress herself. She's a riot, this kid. Love you little Cece bean!

Happy Birthday, James!

Update: Sooooo, shortly after I took these pictures James got just about the worst birthday present ever...the stomach flu. Cece's had a version of it all week but I thought we were spared until just shortly after we enjoyed James' birthday dinner of homemade Guinness stew, he started complaining that his stomach hurt. An hour later he was on the floor in the bathroom. It was a very long night. Poor James. Happy Birthday hun. Look on the bright side, next year can't be any worse, right?!
